VibeKit Review (2026): The Subscription That Comes Back as Credit

Every builder in this category meters something and hopes you do not model it too closely. VibeKit does the opposite, and it is the most interesting pricing page we have read this week.

The model

The vendor states it plainly: "VibeKit charges for the platform, hosting, persistent agents, infrastructure. AI usage is BYOK at provider rates with zero markup, or credits."¹

Two claims there, both unusual.

AI at cost. Bring your own key and you pay Anthropic or OpenAI directly at their rates. The platform takes nothing on top. Everywhere else in this batch the AI allowance is the product: credits at ContextStream, tokens at Thunkable, builder usage at Kliv, all of them metered in units the vendor does not define.

The subscription returns as credit. "Builder at $19.99 comes back to you as $20 of AI credit every month."¹ Read that arithmetic carefully, because it means the platform fee is effectively zero for anyone who would have spent $20 on model usage regardless. You are pre-paying for AI and getting hosting, persistent agents and infrastructure thrown in.

That is either a very good deal or an early-stage vendor buying users, and the honest thing to say is that from outside those look identical.

Pricing

The free tier is a genuine trial rather than a product: ten AI sessions a month and a badge on anything you ship. The $3 database add-on on that tier is a nice touch, because it lets you build something real without jumping a whole plan.

What you are actually buying

Not code. A place for an app to live, with an agent attached to it that "does not just generate code, it monitors, fixes, and ships".²

The persistent-agent idea is the substantive product claim, and it is different from the generate-and-leave model most builders use. An agent that stays with a running application can in principle notice a failure and address it. Whether it does that well is not something a pricing page can tell you and not something we have tested.

The phone-first framing is real: there is an iOS app and a web version.² Building software from a handset is a narrower activity than a laptop allows, and for the specific loop of "something broke, fix it while I am out" it is plausibly the right form factor.

Where to be careful

It is a hosted platform. Your app runs there. The usual portability question applies and the usual answer is that you should assume you cannot take it with you.

512 MB of memory on free is a real constraint for anything with a database and traffic, which is what the paid tiers are for.

One-hour log retention on free means you will miss the cause of anything you do not catch immediately. Debugging on that tier is a live-only activity.

The credit arithmetic depends on the vendor continuing to offer it. A subscription that fully refunds itself as credit is a launch position, not a law. Budget as though it might become $19.99 plus AI at some point.

Who it is for

Yes if you already pay for model usage and would rather have the platform included than pay twice.

Yes if the idea of shipping a fix from your phone is genuinely useful to you rather than a novelty.

Yes for a first hosted side project, on free, with the $3 database.

No if you need the code, which is the recurring answer for this whole category and the one most likely to matter in a year.

No if a metered "AI session" being undefined bothers you. Ten of them a month on free is a limit you cannot convert into work until you try it.

Verdict

The cleanest separation of platform cost from AI cost we have seen in this category, and worth attention for that alone. Charging for hosting and passing model usage through at cost is the arrangement most of these products should have and do not.

Start free, accept the badge, add the $3 database, and see whether building from a phone is something you actually do. If it is, Builder pays for itself the moment you were going to spend $20 on tokens anyway.
